BSI Brings Nine- Championship Hopes to VIR
Daytona, FL –
August 19, 2025
The penultimate race weekend in the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by Michelin is upon us. With just four races to go in the single-make series, the stakes for BSI Racing could not be higher as the team takes on Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia.
After nabbing another win in Canada at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park last month, Tyler Gonzalez climbed back up in the points to third place coming into this weekend. Gonzalez, having won at every track but Mid-Ohio this season, looks to continue his impressive run of grabbing the top step of the podium.
Gonzalez isn’t the only BSI Driver with high stakes this weekend. With $80,000 on the line, BSI Racing boasts two rookies at the top of the Rookie Championship standings in Noah Harmon, who sits in fifth overall with 2060 points, and Helio Meza right behind him in sixth overall with 2010 points.
Leading the Team Championship, BSI will bring its usual faces to the competition. Gonzalez, Harmon, and Meza will also be joined by Westin Workman who is still looking for his first win of the season in this series. Farhan Sidiqqi, Damon Ockey, and Christian Hodneland also return.
Lastly, series veteran and fan-favorite, Selin Rollan returns to BSI for the weekend at VIR, as the team also prepares for a test at Martinsville Speedway on Monday. Rollan will run both this weekend, and the non-points oval race at the historic track in October.
While the outside focus for the team is largely on the MX-5 Cup side of things due to the number of drivers and tight competition, BSI Racing is right in the middle of another championship chase in the IMSA VP Challenge with GSX Driver Steven Clemons.
Clemons comes into the weekend with one win on the season, but firmly in the chase for a title in the GSX class in his Toyota Supra GT4.
“We have to take care of our business this weekend,” said team owner Shea Holbrook.
“We can’t win the championship this weekend, but we can certainly lose it. Pressure is a privilege and it’s awesome to be in this spot at this time of year. I can’t wait to see what we do.”
All races can be streamed on IMSA.tv and on YouTube. Practice begins on Friday with on track activity throughout the weekend.
